FCITL Awards: Innovative Legislator of the Year

The Florida Council of Instructional Technology Leaders (FCITL) is an organization established in 1985, and is composed of K-12 District Instructional Technology Directors, as well as collegiate level leaders.

It is the mission of the Florida Council of Instructional Technology leaders to:

• Share and promote effective uses of instructional technology among district and state educational technology leaders
  
• Improve teacher preparation and accountability in the uses technology to positively impact student achievement
  
• Positively influence legislation and state policies regarding funding, development, and integration of instructional technology use in Florida

This annual award is presented to a legislator who best displays a vision for technology and the possibilities that it holds for students in Florida. See our previous honorees.

	2006 Recipient Representative Dennis Baxley was selected based upon his his advocacy for technology and the opportunity it provides. We recognize his commitment to education and his commitment to technology in education. His leadership serves as an example for other legislators with regard to these issues.
